Introductoin: This research has done with the purpose of analyzing the role of mother’s PERSONALITY type, especially D type in the prediction of teen’s positive and negative attitude toward delinquency.Method: A sample of 100 people with their teenage children was selected with cluster sampling for this descriptive – correlation research from the mothers in Hamedan. Mothers completed Friedman and Rosenman, A and B PERSONALITY type, Rahe and Soloman C PERSONALITY type and Denollets type D PERSONALITY scale questionnaire and their sons received questionnaire about their attitude toward delinquency. Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis were used for analyzing the data. Results: The results showed that there is a positive relation between mothers D PERSONALITY type and the positive attitude of teens toward delinquency and negative relation between it and negative attitude of teens toward delinquency and no relation has been found between A,B & C PERSONALITY type and positive or negative attitude toward delinquency. The results of the regression analyses indicated that D PERSONALITY type determine 47% (b=0.47) of positive attitude toward delinquency variance and 23% (b=-0.23) of negative attitude toward delinquency variance.Discussion and conclusion: These results showed that sons of those mothers who have D PERSONALITY type are more vulnerable against delinquency. Therefore, by informing the parents and setting the related actions for adjusting mother’s D PERSONALITY we can prevent and control teen’s delinquency.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: prevalence of hypertension is about 11% among Iranian population. Many factors such as psychological stress, smoking, and type A PERSONALITY influence the prevalence of hypertension. The purpose of this study was to evaluate type A PERSONALITY in hypertensive patients. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive study. Among 500 patients referring to the cardiology clinics of Sina and Shahid Madani Hospitals in Tabriz, one hundred hypertensive patients were selected by simple sampling method in a period of two months. Demographic data collected and after securing patients' consents, PERSONALITY questionnaires (TAQ) were filled out. Data entry and analysis performed by means of SPSS statistical software. Results: Fifty males and females were included in this study, mean age were 57±11 and 57±8 for men and women respectively. Systolic blood pressures were in the range of 120-210 mmHg, with a mean value of 157±17.5 Mean blood pressure (BP) was 158/90 mmHg in men and 159/92 mmHg in women accordingly. Prevalence rates of type A and B personalities in hypertensive patients were 54% and 38% respectively which showed a significant statistical difference. Conclusion: This study showed a high prevalence rate of type A PERSONALITY in hypertensive patients. We recommend assessment of PERSONALITY type of hypertensive patients and inclusion of supportive psychiatric measures in the treatment of patients with type A PERSONALITY as an adjunctive treatment for hypertension.

Abstract:

Introduction: Although numerous studies in Western Europe and North America indicate the impact of type A behavior pattern on coronary artery atherosclerosis or coronary heart disease (CAD), few studies conducted in Asian countries indicate that type A behavior pattern had no effect on coronary artery atherosclerosis Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between type A behavior pattern and coronary artery atherosclerosis among Iranian populations.Materials and Methods: This study was performed with a case-control design. Data were collected from 77 patients with coronary artery atherosclerosis, referred to Afshar Hospital Professional Heart Clinic in Yazd city, and 78 normal controls, in July and August 2013. These groups were selected by convenience sampling method. The two groups completed the Jenkins Activity Survey (JAS) to measure the type A behavior. Results: The results suggest that the two groups were significantly different regarding the type A behavior (p<0.01), and components of irritability/impatience (p<0.01), speed (p<0.01), and achievement striving (p<0.05).Conclusion: Results of this study, contrary to Asian data, confirmed the hypothesis that type A behavior pattern is associated with increased risk of coronary artery atherosclerosis in Iranian populations.

Abstract:

The main aim of the current study was to investigate the predicting role of Six- factor model of PERSONALITY for PERSONALITY disorders clusters and also to provide a scientific source for changes in the category approach of DSM. To conduct the study, using random sampling, 116 individuals with PERSONALITY disorders who were referred to consulting centers of Ardebil city and had diagnosed as PERSONALITY disordered by SCID-II structured interview, were selected and were asked to complete HEXACO PERSONALITY Inventory Revised. The collected data were analyzed by statistical method of discriminant analysis. The results showed that Emotionality, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness are the best predictors of PERSONALITY disorder clusters. These variables also could discriminate the PERSONALITY disorder clusters from each other, and place 56 percent of cases correctly in clusters. The necessity of controlling comorbidity in PERSONALITY disorders for discriminating them based on dimensional approach, is discussed in this article.

Abstract:

The Big Five Inventory (BFI) is one of the most widely used PERSONALITY questionnaires, but very few studies have been conducted on its psychometric properties in Iranian population. This study was carried out with the aim of studying the psychometric properties of the BFI questionnaire. For this purpose, 390 university students in Tehran (210 girls and 180 boys) with an age range of 18 to 56 years (M = 27.52; SD = 8.79) were selected using the convenience sampling method and completed BFI and NEO-FFI questionnaires. Cronbach's alpha, multitrait-multimethod matrix, and confirmatory factor analysis were used to estimate the psychometric properties of the questionnaire. The result of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that 15 of the 44 items did not have a strong factor loading (higher than 0.40) on the corresponding factors and were therefore removed from the questionnaire. The fit indices showed that the Persian version of 29 questions (BFI-29) with 5 factors has a good fit with the data. The reliability analysis also showed that the range of Cronbach's alpha coefficients of the factors is from 0.70 to 0.79. The lowest Cronbach's alpha coefficient was related to agreeableness factor and the highest was related to conscientiousness. The findings from the multitrait-multimethod matrix showed that the BFI-29 questionnaire has good convergent and divergent validity with the NEO-FFI questionnaire. In general, based on the results of the present study, it can be said that the BFI-29 questionnaire has desirable psychometric properties and whenever a short tool for PERSONALITY measurement is needed, this questionnaire can be used.

Abstract:

Donald Trump is one of the political figures that understanding the nature of his thinking and behavior has attracted the attention of psychologists more than any former president of the United States of America, because he shows high levels of hyperactivity and excitement. Thus, many psychologists have attempted in their numerous articles and interviews to analyze the behavior and words of Trump utilizing various PERSONALITY tests. The purpose of this article is to analyze the PERSONALITY of Donald Trump based on the similarities and differences in the findings of the most reliable diagnoses in order to make his behavior understandable and predictable. Thus, the main question is concerned with the nature of Donald Trump’, s character and his intellectual and psychological structure and the hypothesis of the article is that he is suffering from a mental disorder. Utilizing the case-study method, Trump’, s character has been studied through the perspective of political psychology and based on the Hare Psychopathy Checklist, DSM-4’, s Narcissistic PERSONALITY Disorder, Millon Inventory of Diagnostic Criteria, The Big Five Model, and the six-dimensional HEXACO Model. The congruence between the data gathered from various psychological tests and analyzing Trump's PERSONALITY lead us to the conclusion that Trump is suffering from one extreme or the other in all the main psychological traits and he has been intentionally displaying them more exaggeratedly in the spheres of business and populist politics.
